PD0159 This moated castle lies approx. 70 kms from Dresden (1 ¼ hours) and 80 kms from Leipzig (1 hour).

 It is located on the edge of a small town.  The surroundings are natural and delightful.

 There are several guesthouses in the surrounding forests.  Guests from the city (Leipzig, Dresden, Torgau) can do daytrips all over the region on the weekends.

 It is one of the most beautiful nature areas of Germany.  The whole size of the property amounts to 36,901 square meters.

 This includes the manor house, with a surface of 3,762 square meters, and the castle pond, with a surface of 5,390 square meters.  The remaining surface has a height of 27,749 square meters of woodland and fruit meadows.

The manor house was built in the 17th century, but the foundations and the wine cellars are even older, possibly from the 16th century.  The interior has several fire-places.

 Some of the vault rooms have mural paintings on the walls.  The manor house needs renovation.

 It is a protected monument, so some structural components must be renovated for the purpose of preservation.  An example of this are the unique wall paintings.

 However, the monument preservation union will help fund up to 60 of the renovations.  A reorganization draft was already ordered.

 A mighty tree, one of the biggest and oldest in Europe, is in the middle of the Park in front of the manor house.  The municipality cares for the tree.

 With a closer look it will be clear that the region offers a lot for hiking and exploring.  This is the perfect recreational area for city-dwellers to get rid of their stress.

Many have already noticed the healthful benefits of this place.  Every year more guests visit the area.

 The growing infrastructure of the city takes care to not ruin the natural appeal.
